Honoring Dr. Mayer’s Lasting Impact on Our Community
Today marks ten years since the passing of Dr. Steven J. Mayer, who served as Superintendent of Robbinsville Public Schools from 2009 until his untimely passing in April 2016.
Dr. Mayer was a passionate and energetic educational leader whose deep commitment to students, staff, and the community defined his service. He believed strongly in the power of schools to shape lives and led with a visible presence, unwavering optimism, and a clear sense of purpose—continually inspiring others to be their best selves.
Through the reflections of those who worked closely with him, including my own mentor who was mentored by Dr. Mayer, it is clear that Dr. Mayer’s impact extended far beyond his tenure. His influence continues to resonate across our schools, our community, and the broader field of education.
While there will never be another leader exactly like Dr. Mayer, we honor his legacy not by attempting to replicate it, but by striving to embody the values he exemplified. In our daily work, we carry forward his vision through our own actions, commitment, and dedication to serving students.
Together, we can continue to build upon the foundation he helped establish and ensure that his legacy remains a meaningful and lasting part of our school community.
