Robbinsville Police Department Adopt-A-Bus Program
Posted Date: 10/09/26 (09:00 AM)
Robbinsville Public Schools is pleased to share a new school bus safety initiative being launched by the Robbinsville Police Department. Through the “Adopt a Bus” program, police officers and command staff will be assigned to individual school bus routes and will follow those routes periodically throughout the school year.
The “Adopt a Bus” initiative will begin Monday, October 12, and will continue at various times throughout the school year.
The goal of the initiative is to promote student safety, increase awareness around school bus safety laws, and provide an additional law enforcement presence along our students’ daily routes. Officers will be monitoring for careless driving and violations of laws designed to protect students as they board and exit school buses.
A reminder to all motorists: When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you must STOP.
Know the Law
- Stop at least 25 feet away from a school bus displaying flashing red lights with its stop arm extended.
- On a divided highway with a median or barrier, motorists are required to stop only when traveling on the same side of the roadway as the bus.
- Flashing amber/yellow lights mean slow down and prepare to stop.
We appreciate the Robbinsville Police Department for partnering with our schools and community on this important initiative. Student safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage all members of our community to slow down, stay alert, and follow school bus safety laws.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this information with your family, friends, and neighbors.
